You’re So Transparent
A New Wedding Collection from TOPSHOP
British designer Richard Nicoll dresses the cool, modern bride with his new, limited edition wedding collection for TOPSHOP.
Richard Nicoll’s capsule collection for TOPSHOP is sheer heaven. Literally. His wedding dresses are cut from the lightest, most fragile of fabrics like Chantilly lace, silk georgette, sheer organza and crepe de chine and colored only in the purest white and shell pink. They are delicately frothy and subtly romantic, yet manage to straddle the line between edgy and ethereal.
"I loved the idea of doing wedding dresses with TOPSHOP because I wanted to offer a younger, cooler alternative to meringue culture, something special, but not precious."
Nicoll, who worked with Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton and was a graduate of the prestigious Central St. Martins of London, has turned his signature sharp tailored hand to soft, weightless dresses for brides looking for something different that reflects what the new generation of girls are looking for today.
“I loved the idea of doing wedding dresses with TOPSHOP because I wanted to offer a younger, cooler alternative to meringue culture, something special, but not precious, like my friends, something they would wear if they were getting married. These pieces are perfect as party dresses too if you’re not the marrying kind,” Nicoll says.
Simple t-shirt shapes and sexy corset bodices play up against chic layers of fabric, proving his deft hand with the art of reveal and conceal. His floor length lace gown with a bare, strappy back turns sheer from the knee down, marrying structure with soft. Another favorite, the petal pink mini layers his geometric lace over silk georgette with short fluttery sleeves. Just divine!
The collection is priced from $180-$700 and available July 30, 2012 in limited quantities at TOPSHOP New York and Las Vegas, as well as online.
