Ulla-Maija’s Collection 36 was dedicated to the many moods, emotions and experiences of designing a wedding collection. We considered the dresses and wondered if you must be in a fun, boisterous mood to create a big, pouf-skirted ball gown or if designing that ball gown just puts you in a happy place?
Regardless of the process, Ulla-Maija’s gowns certainly put us in a fabulous mood. From the Caterine, a sharp triple tiered tulle ball gown, to the Adelle, a satin trumpet gown with its exquisite floral embroidered one-shouldered bodice, we delighted in their singular design and quite original detailing.
Unlike looking at a crisp new pair of jeans, seeing a well-executed wedding dress can be an emotional experience. We were all choked up when we saw the Perrine gown--a very simple dress with a chic high to low tulle skirt, it’s bodice enveloped in dramatic rose gold embroidery. A thing of beauty indeed.
The unique draping and technical skill in Ulla-Maija’s duchess satin and taffeta ball gowns can truly fill you with emotion. The Martine Fleur and Isolde gowns did just that as the peaks and valleys of their fabrics swirl organically and randomly around the body. Fashion can lift your spirits and transport you to another place. Magic can exist in a dress, and in these dresses it does.
