Romona Keveza Collection

Romona's show began with a bang and a peek into her glamorous Holiday 2011 Evening Wear collection. Showing 20 knockout gowns, cocktail dresses and head-turning wraps and coats, this was a welcome relief from the scores of white dresses I had just seen. Rich black velvets and swishy taffetas complimented the 24K antique gold toned sequin waists of snug cocktail dresses and a fully covered cropped swing jacket made from 3 million sequins. That's a lot of sequins! The addition of deep bordeaux, emerald and "Romona" red gave a sophisticated boost of color in this dark, mysterious collection.

Even though the Evening Collection left me wanting more, I couldn't help but anticipate the main act that soon followed. Her Spring 2012 Couture Bridal Collection was quietly dedicated to the "paramour of eternal love." Dress after dress of exquisitely fitted mermaids, ball gowns and circle-skirts floated by.

Organza flower blossoms, light scattered petals and textured voulant floral skirts gave her collection the air of a chic botanical garden where sweeping wedding gowns grow. Shades of blush, pearl and creamy ivory make up her wedding-palette, flattering for any bride.

Romona's accessory of choice is clearly the uber-light, blusher-style Waltz length veil that heightened the drama. Very delicately tucked into two of her veils were a pair of amazing diamond tiaras from haute couture jeweler Chopard, giving just a glint of serious sparkle.

Romona's collection was a pure celebration of the ideal bride: a beautiful, calm, glowing woman on the threshold of her exciting, new journey.
