The Fall 2012 Reem Acra collection had an amazing energy about it. Each dress seemed weightless, despite the intricate layering of fabrics, embroideries and textures. There was a bit of a nod to the roaring twenties in the charming, slightly offbeat headpieces that accompanied Acra’s looks. Oversized silk petals and Art Deco jeweled head wraps sat on the models’ foreheads in frivolous flapper fashion. A bride doesn’t need much accessorizing with dresses this fabulous, but these were the perfect match.

There was a decidedly sexy turn to Acra’s collection this season, with her stunning all-over beaded fitted columns. The Honeymoon gown, appropriately named, is decadently covered in crystals and pearls and has all the ease of a sarong worn on a hot, secluded, remote beach with your new groom. Another sexy beaded gown, Heaven Sent, showed a whole lotta leg with a thigh-high slit up to there. Fitted mermaid shapes and perfectly placed sheer illusion upped the sensuality ante, but always managed to stay chic and unfussy.

When sexy moved onto sultry, we were quite frankly wowed by her deftly designed gowns that appeared extravagant at first glance but were totally, utterly modern in their silhouettes, airiness and wearability. Acra’s tulle and horsehair overskirts magically turned a form-fitting jeweled column into a true wedding gown, the skirt now full of romance and swirl.

Her finale gowns were spectacular. There were layers of silk organza and puffs of silk gazar with an incredible new laser cut technique (that she dubbed ‘the new lace’). Each of these finale dresses was topped with fabulous blusher veils lightly concealing the brides faces, some with her extraordinary laser cut detailing.

Reem Acra surpassed herself this season with a collection that will have brides squealing with delight, and wondering how on earth they can chose from a collection that exhibits such a masterful understanding of how brides want to look, feel and mesmerize on their wedding day.
