Modern Trousseau

Callie Tein's Modern Trousseau collection for Fall 2011 is so darn pretty we had a hard time picking favorites.

It could be that Tein uses the loveliest laces in her line. Her Daphne and Dakota dresses are made from a heavy floral lace that has an almost cutout-like feel with a three-dimensional quality. The Daphne dress (one of our tops) is a very short mini, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in style. Its bracelet-length sleeves and hip belt feel slightly mod and very charming. If you like the lace but not the length, the Dakota might just be for you. Its classic trumpet shape of lace over satin, perfect sweetheart neckline and satin ribbon sash were outstanding.

It could also be that Tein's silhouettes and proportions are spot on. Savannah is a divine draped chiffon mermaid with a flirty skirt of layers and layers of chiffon petals. This dress is definitely for the wild at heart. For a more tailored look, the Tullah gown is perfectly dreamy. This soft, airy A-line in point d'esprit tulle would make the ideal dress for a garden or country wedding.

Or, it could be that Tein delivers fresh ideas in beautiful, classic styles that are wearable and timeless. We were smitten with her Pearl gown, an unusual golden brocade tank style dress with an oversized bow sitting at the shoulder and a discreet fishtail train at the back.
