A launch collection brings with it loads of expectation, but Mark Zunino’s premiere line for Kleinfeld exceeded our wildest dreams. This designer of red-carpet regulars hailing from the glittering hills of Hollywood brings with him a unique aesthetic with extraordinary couture quality and styling.
Inspired by such incredible icons as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren, you can actually see each of these personalities taking shape in the collection. Miss Hepburn would have been perfectly at ease in Zunino’s white duchess satin fitted column with a high boatneck illusion bodice, flounced train and dotted in Swarovski crystals and pearls. The opera length kid gloves he added to this look were so very Audrey.
Grace Kelly, who straddled the line between good girl and bad girl, would have looked divine in one of Zunino’s ball gowns. Perhaps his finale duchess satin ball gown with fully beaded lace corset bodice and gathered puffball skirt. The low-cut neckline and lace-up corset back of this dramatic dress can be both sexy and demure. Or, she might have worn his organza strapless ball gown with the keyhole slice in the front and center of the bodice. That’s one sexy ball gown.
Now, Sophia Loren on the other hand, could rock any of Zunino’s slinky dresses. Our favorite is his silk chiffon draped gown, hand-ombre-dyed from off-white to blush with a matching ostrich feather bolero. Sexy yes, but très sophisticated.
The best thing about Mark Zunino’s collection is that you don’t have to be Hollywood royalty to wear one of his wedding gowns. From tailored lace and silk satin charmeuse to floral-trimmed mermaids, we’re pretty sure there’s one that’ll bring out the star in you.
