Maggie Sottero

The Fall 2012 Maggie Sottero collection began with the prettiest pink and ended with dramatic black and white. There is something for every bride here. In a season where many collections featured low-key, pared down looks, Sottero keeps the faith and gives girls plenty of ruffles, lace, rhinestones, bows and big, fluffy ball skirts.

Sottero’s pink Divina gown opened the show with a bang. Unexpected and totally girly, this gorgeous pastel organza mermaid ensured there was more to come. And boy was there! Loads of lace, from light Chantilly to classic Alencon, satiny charmeuse, shredded tulle skirts and gossamer chiffons.

Sottero played with plenty of narrow shapes, thigh-high slit skirts showing off lean legs, and sexy plunging backs. A soft chiffon gown, the Sonora, has an Art Deco inspired beaded racer back that looks like strand after strand of dripping diamonds. This dress is simple from the front, yet the back reveals all. The Arabella lace gown is a pretty mermaid belted in crystal jewels and has a chic, off the shoulder wrap that conceals the décolleté but plunges deep in the back. Wow!

The big statement gowns were exactly that. Like delicious cream-puffs, these fluffy delights had sleek, fitted bodices and wild, layered, textured skirts in lace-trimmed organza ruffles, distressed tulle layers, pleated ruffles, soft satin pick-ups and organza waves.

Sottero finished the show with two gorgeous off-white gowns detailed in jet-black. The beautiful Juliette organza gown of layered cut waves was belted with a black grosgrain cummerbund. How chic and modern! Also in black and off-white but channeling a more vintage-inspired spirit was the Corinne gown, a tulle draped mermaid with jet embroidered flowers that wound all the way around the gown. Now that’s a finale!
