The Spring 2012 Kenneth Pool Collection is designed for a bride who's not afraid to make a statement. In a collection that balanced soft fabrics and delicate detailing with Pool's signature glamorous edge, this bride will have to look no further.
The opening gown, which successfully set the tone for the show, was a sleek beaded mermaid with carved sweetheart neckline, the full skirt completely covered in gauzy organza petals. There were other mermaids, in gleaming duchess satin and draped tulle, soft fabrics forming strict feminine curves. Glamorous indeed.
Pool's sparkling beading outlined waists, necklines and hips and accented each dress with precision. In a palette of mainly white gowns with silver and platinum beads, Pool's ecru silk taffeta ball gown with a crystal and silver encrusted bodice was a standout. Its wrapped, fitted waist and full, layered skirt made this dress a must for a bride who wants to bask in the spotlight.
In the end, the finale dress stole my heart. The full, strapless ball gown had a skirt made of generous tulle layers and delicate asymmetric pick-ups. Its accompaniment: a shredded tulle capelet, artfully wrapped around the shoulders and bodice and tied gently in back, gave a new modern spirit to this very grand and luxurious collection.
