A regular for the red carpet and social circuits, Douglas Hannant designs wedding gowns that suit brides looking for high-drama and couture quality. Hannant's Spring 2012 collection is full of chic silhouettes and dramatic details, right down (or up) to the beehive hairdos that topped off the looks.
His carved corset bodice gown contrasts with a fluffy distressed chiffon floral ball skirt. A modern, twisted organza bodice gets a touch of frill with a skirt made of floating geometric shaped layers. His narrower silhouettes include a witty mermaid with a bodice immaculately tied in a generous organza bow.
One of my favorites, a stand-out trumpet gown in creamy ivory organza, has a bodice covered in a delicate layer of tiny floral appliques, while the waist and hips get wrapped and swathed in this light romantic fabric. The skirt fluidly trumpets out in a soft puddle. So dreamy, so Douglas.
