The Spring 2012 collection from this dynamic duo is a treat for the bride who appreciates classic, understated silhouettes married with special, unique fabrics that take their gowns from simple to spectacular. Stephen Birnbaum and Robert Bullock excel in pretty, feminine gowns that flatter any figure and speak to the romantic in each one of us.
Their modern goddess column in Fortuny pleated chiffon with draped capped sleeves and the lightweight hand-tucked silk tulle gown were among my favorites. Romantic, but not saccharin-sweet. An unusual basket weave tulle ball gown is soft and light as air; the asymmetric dropped waist gives the dress something completely unexpected. A ribbon-floral bodice tops a tailored Mikado silk trumpet gown that shows off a shapely silhouette but is never overtly sexy.
Each Birnbaum & Bullock dress captures the essence of its brides. Whether she is a delicate and bohemian goddess, a modern urban woman, or a dreamy belle of the ball, there is something for every woman in this collection.
