Color Me Navy

Whether you’re going for classy and elegant, a touch of nautical or crisp and modern, navy is the way to go.

There is so much more to navy than meets the eye. Whether mixed with crisp white or ivory, bright yellow, deep purple or teal and blue, this color makes a bold statement while keeping brighter hues neatly grounded. From New England chic to clean, classic elegance, read on for ways to seamlessly include navy in your walk down the aisle.

Use navy as a neutral when you're playing with color. Yellow Calla lilies and white hydrangeas, mixed with yellow-hued votive candles, brighten up a room awash in a rich navy hue.

Keep tables clean but interesting with a combination of prints in navy and off-white. Use a variety of styles and sizes, from sleek stripes to small florals to all-over toile, to give each table a unique touch. Top it off with silver chargers, blue tumblers and clear wine glasses with silver rims. Play with lights and darks by topping lighter tables with dark navy napkins. Use white napkins on darker tables to add a crisp finishing touch.

When it comes to flowers, white roses and ranunculi or deep blue hydrangeas are a classic choice. Play with flowers in different shapes, sized and textures for a lush, opulent look. Or, add shots of purple with lavender sweet peas and sultry Calla lilies. Light blue or pale purple hydrangeas will soften your tables and add some femininity to a more masculine color scheme. Pile blueberries and blackberries in silver vessels for a sweet, unique touch of navy that will turn your tables into a scene straight out of a still life painting.

For a more modern, casual setting, mix navy and white with a sandy nude hue. Blue plates, striped placemats and crisp navy blue napkins are dressed up with a single white orchid at every place.

No matter the linens or flowers you choose, go crazy with candles. Cut crystal votive holders and shimmering mercury glass will cast a romantic glow throughout the room. Or, float candles in a large bowl for an easy centerpiece that cuts down on floral costs but is big on style and drama.

Planning to celebrate all night with a glowing after-party? Take navy for a spin on the dance floor. Combine nightclub lighting in hues of navy, purple and white with a cluster of disco balls and lounge seating. Add a VIP section for your wedding party and a few towering arrangements of feathers to take navy to a whole new level.
