10 Minutes With: Pinch Of Yum
Things are heating up in the kitchen! We caught up with Lindsay of Pinch Of Yum and she’s spilling all her yummy cooking secrets. She is currently in the middle of whipping up a whole bunch of new recipes that are perfect for brides who want to look and feel their best. Read on to find her tips for cooking made easy and delicious:
We love Pinch Of Yum! Can you tell us more about it?
Pinch of Yum started in 2010 as a hobby blog - it was basically a place for me to document what I was making for dinner. Over the last five years, as my photography and recipes and writing have all improved, it has grown into a business that has replaced my full-time job as a teacher, so now I have the job title of “full time food blogger.”
What’s a recipe that is sure to make your fiancé fall in love all over again?
As long as there aren’t any hard feelings against mushrooms, the Creamy Garlic Mushroom Spaghetti is a good one! Bjork made that for me as a romantic dinner one night which is a big deal - he hardly ever cooks. :) I loved it.
Do you have any cooking tips for a newlywed who isn’t used to being in the kitchen?
Have fun with it! There is so much to explore and try - take advantage of your extra “free time” to try new recipes from cookbooks or blogs that you like. Find out what you both like to cook and eat together.
Any tips for how to develop a wedding menu?
Don’t worry about what other people think. I had a friend who did a Chipotle burrito bar at her wedding and honestly, I think the food was better (and more enjoyed by the guests) than many “fancy” wedding dinners I’ve had! It was fun, casual, and everyone loved it.
How can our readers make cooking an enjoyable activity to do with their significant other?
Make it a date night! Set time aside for it. Have one person do specialty drinks and the other do the food, so you can be snacking and drinking while the dinner is being made.
What tips do you have for making your food special, unique and memorable?
I like to make my own sauces! I think it allows you to create your own distinct recipes because you can adjust the sauce to whatever you like.
Do you and your husband ever disagree on what to make and if so how do you decide or compromise?
Not really, honestly, because he is so easy to please - he basically loves all food so whatever I’m making is what we’re having and he doesn’t care one way or the other! Although occasionally he’ll put in a request for a pizza or something.
Do you have any tips on how to eat healthy for brides to be? We all want to look our best in our wedding dress!
Spiralize veggies into noodles to replace your pasta! Try green smoothies. Add vegetables to everything - they’re filling and colorful and taste great with an awesome homemade sauce.
