The Hundredth Time
Real Wedding: Stephanie and Chad
Stephanie had told Chad hundreds of times that she would marry him, but the last time he asked was different.
Seated on a piece of driftwood on the beach in Cambria, California, Chad asked Stephanie to marry him one final time, this time with a sparkling Tacori ring in hand. Just as she had said many times before, Stephanie said “yes” and the rest, as they say, is history.
On October 27, 2012 at 3 Oaks Vineyard in Clovis, California, surrounded by 70 of their closest family and friends, Stephanie and Chad tied the knot with a wedding celebration that combined rustic, vintage and romantic touches with their love of the outdoors. The venue almost chose itself, with three large oak trees, a beautiful barn and acres of natural beauty that easily exceeded Stephanie’s criteria.
Though she was initially dead set on a lace gown, Stephanie’s brief foray into dress shopping (she only tried on 4 dresses!) led her to a ruched mermaid gown with a flower detail under the bust by Mikaella. She paired the gown with a delicate ribbon-trimmed veil, Nina shoes and shimmering earrings and necklace by Badgley Mischka. Her sister, also the Maid of Honor, wore a black cocktail dress.
Chad wore a custom gray suit from Black Lapel with a black vest, with his groomsmen in mismatched gray suits with brown shoes and belts. The bride carried a bouquet of red, orange and burgundy daisies and roses wrapped in lace, which was complemented by the groom’s burgundy rose boutonniere.
Stephanie’s favorite moment from the day occurred before she made her way down the aisle. Chad surprised her by having someone deliver a handwritten letter to his bride, accompanied with a verse from Shakespeare. The letter contained Chad’s personal vows to his bride-to-be. This sweet gesture got the tears flowing, and they kept flowing as the ceremony approached. In a nod to Stephanie and Chad’s love of all things Scottish, the bride walked down the aisle behind a bagpiper, who played the theme to Bravehart, Stephanie’s favorite movie. The couple exchanged deeply personal vows and had a unity sand ceremony, representative of the beautiful outdoor location.
