Sense of Touch

Donna shares her take on the sensual sense of touch with Colin Cowie Weddings Readers.

“Have a heart that never hardens and a touch that never hurts” – Charles Dickens.

Of all our Five Senses, touch is the most universal.  You may lose your vision, hearing, sense of smell and even your sense of taste, but it is unlikely you’ll be bereft of your sense of touch, also known as tactition.

For couples, it’s all about getting, keeping and renewing sensuality via touch. Sensual touch is a marvelous way to reconnect with your partner. Begin with yourself by prepping your skin to feel its smoothest. Make exfoliating a daily part of your routine and sweep upwards towards your heart. Be thorough and be gentle. Follow immediately with a fabulous, heavenly-scented lotion.

Another sure pathway to couple sensuality is to experience the bliss and pleasure that is massage. As a conduit to sensuality and beyond, there’s none better. Have a joint couple’s massage or better yet, massage each other. It can start with something as simple as a soothing massage of tired trapezius muscles at day’s end to offering a blissful foot rub on the house.  Find a divine massage oil you both love. The rest is up to your imagination.

Bring touch to daily sensual reality by indulging in the luxury of finely-made foundations. French women have known this for years.  Let it be your sensual secret as well. Delicate and airy microfiber fabrics have the feel of silk and mold themselves to you.

The last thing to touch your body at night should feel wonderfully sensuous. Wear the fluffiest, most comfortable house or after-bath slippers you can find. Ditto for the thickest and most enveloping Five-Star worthy bathrobe. Make a quest of finding the most absorbent, luxuriant bath towels.

Lastly, get a copy of the Kama Sutra, not only for its jaw-dropping sexuality, but for valuable insight about sensuality. The Kama Sutra describes in luscious detail 12 embraces specifically for couples to have sensual contact with each other. It’s incredibly titillating practicing these embraces and will take you and your partner to new places together.
